  The Soros Sundance

At this point, there must be a new protest raised against George Soros. His take-over of the documentaries of Robert Redford's Sundance Institute is doing great damage to American Indians. That the deeply religious name "sun dance" should be employed to validate anti-American agendas is outrageous and unacceptable. It is the equivalent of "eucharist" to Christians. 'The Eucharist Institute' would never be an acceptable name for an anti-American movie festival. Why should "Sundance" get a free, unnoticed pass?

Because of the recent Soros film showing (19 new documentaries) in New York, the name Sundance is being directly associated with causes not only unsympathetic to American Indians, but the Institute is creating inimical influence against American Indians by associating our religious term "sun dance" with anti-American sentiments.

This creates a terrible stereotype for Indians to overcome. For Indians trying to think positively about America, and trying to contribute to American society, trying to be part of the bigger picture, such a negative image created by the Soros Sundance is monstrously inhibitive. It identifies Indians with the third world, and third world resentment of America. It is completely denigrating to American Indians.

To counteract this terrible influence, I have created a new blog, The Soros Sundance, and plan to update it regularly. I am pursuing a course of action against the Sundance Institute, and will provide updates of that as well. Here are my collected blogs on Redford and Soros prior to my new Soros Sundance blog.

  At the Whim of Charon

My taxi to Amman Airport swings in front of the hotel at exactly 5:30AM. A small, dapper man with excellent English greets me with a warm smile, one graced by a touch of sadness. He places my bags into the trunk of his late model sedan, then expertly opens my door. I get in, and we begin the drive back to the airport for the next leg of my journey.

We exchange pleasantries as the sleeping city, the color of clouds at dusk, rolls past silently. Its quiet is reflected in the empty expanse of highway before us. It is the quiet of exhaustion, like the sleep of the sparse, highway vendors I'd seen suffering in the hot sun on this same road the day before.

In less than an hour's drive we roll up to the airport. I pay the driver and thank him. He hands me his card and tells me that when I return to Amman he will, for a reasonable fee, guide me on a tour of Jordan's most holy places. I tell him I will one day accept his offer.

I enter the small Amman International Airport. Unlike yesterday, there are now mostly Americans and other Westerners here. Their conversations tell me that they are going to Iraq. I follow some of them through the first of multiple bag and body searches. The thoroughness is greater than that of the checkpoint I had gone through before boarding the plane here from America. As I wait in line to be searched, I think of those trying to find a crack here -- one big enough to slip through in order to glorify themselves, and perhaps God, at the expense of others.

After passing through the last security checkpoint, we are led to a long-faded waiting room where the air is old and still, where we are made to sit and wait. It is there, as the temptation of sleep batters away at my will to lucidity, that I notice my connection to time fading. I have a sense that unless I check it regularly, I will lose its meaning.

We are led out to the tarmac and onto a worn, creaking bus which drives us up to the plane which will fly us into Baghdad. There is a nervous silence on the bus, reinforced when, after driving around the backside of a big airliner, the jet we will board comes into view.

She is small and she looks old and her name is written jauntily in light, blue letters slant-wise across the smooth, white skin of her nose. She is the only civilian way, by air, to Baghdad.

Her African pilot is checking beneath her wings, looking her over like a man looks at a pretty woman. I am relieved that he is in love with her.

We ascend the steps of the well-worn ramp and I think about those who had climbed it before. I ask myself, had they gotten what they had wanted?

I enter the airplane and am greeted by an aging stewardess whose self-imposed cheeriness I find discomforting--she is too old to pretend to be happy when the look in her eyes betrays that she is not. I courteously return her greeting, and take my seat by a window which is scratched and hazed like the windshield of a very old car. The seating is cramped. I wedge myself in, fasten my safety belt and wait for takeoff.

The little plane rounds-up onto the main runway and the moment it does, the pilot pushes both throttles to full power. We rocket down the tarmac and within seconds, are climbing steeply out of Amman, Jordan, and into the hot, desert sun.

The little plane levels off at 25,000 feet and stays there. For an hour there is nothing with us but the sun and clouds and the sky. I gaze at them until I am lost and their glory washes over me, comforting my tired, restless mind.

Domestic Terrorism: The Nation of Islam and the Zebra Murders

An ominous anniversary just passed -- that of the Zebra Murders. From 1970-1974, the Nation of Islam earned the title of the bloodiest domestic terrorist group in American history, as it murdered as many as 270 whites in California alone.

The three men went out hunting that night. But their prey was human. White humans, to be exact. Only they didn't consider whites human, but rather "grafted snakes," "white devils," and "blue-eyed devils."

They grabbed three children, and tried to get them into their van, but the resourceful kids ran away.

The children were Michele Denise Carrasco, 11, Marie Stewart, 12, and Marie's 15-year-old brother, Frank.

The angry, frustrated hunters went back to their van, and sought after new quarry. They found it in the form of a happy married couple, out for an after-dinner walk near their home on Telegraph Hill. The wife ran away, but when one of the hunters put a gun to her husband's chest and said he'd kill him, she stopped and returned. Her devotion cost her her life.

In the van, the hunters brutally assaulted the husband and wife, and two of the hunters (Cooks and Green) robbed the husband and wife, and two (Cooks and Harris) sexually molested the wife. Parking near some deserted railroad tracks in the Potrero District, the hunters had at husband and wife alike, taking turns hacking their faces with a machete, and nearly decapitating the wife, before leaving them for dead.

The couple was named Quita and Richard Hague. The date was October 20, 1973.

Quita Hague was dead, but a hideously mutilated Richard Hague miraculously survived.

The hunters that night were Jesse Lee Cooks, Larry Green, and Anthony Cornelius Harris. Cooks, Green, and Harris were members of the Black Muslims (now known as the Nation of Islam), who had been recruited, along with dozens of other Black Muslims, to randomly murder whites.

That was the official beginning of the "Zebra" Killings, which would be carried out on the streets of San Francisco, and would hold the city by the bay -- one of the most beautiful in the world -- in a state of terrified siege for the next six months. Or rather, would hold white San Franciscans in a state of terror. As black residents told reporters, since only whites were being murdered, they felt no fear or concern.

The Zebra Killings were so called because the San Francisco Police Department reserved radio frequency "Z" ("Zebra" in military and police parlance) for all dispatches that might be related to the serial killings.

It would be months before the SFPD would connect the Quita Hague killing to the Zebra case. That is because although the Hague case had in common with the San Francisco killings and attempted murders to come, that it was a random black-on-white murder by youngish black men who stood out for being conservatively dressed and groomed, the cases that formed the profile that stood out to the detectives in the SFPD Homicide Detail were all carried out with a .32 pistol, and did not involve robbery or sexual molestation. (Youngish black men who were conservatively dressed and groomed were and are hallmarks of the Nation of Islam (NOI).)

Killers and Suspects

Between October 20, 1973 and April 16, 1974, Jesse Lee Cooks, Larry Green, and Anthony Cornelius Harris, as well as J.C. (aka J.C.X.) Simon and Manuel Moore, murdered at least 15 whites and grievously wounded at least another nine whites in failed murder attempts. In at least one case ("John Doe #169"), the devils kidnapped a homeless white man, took him to Black Self-Help Moving and Storage, the NOI-owned business where all of the above-named killers but Cooks worked, bound and gagged their victim, and began chopping off his body parts while he was still alive. (Cooks worked at the NOI-owned Shabazz Bakery; according to Anthony Harris, the NOI assassins had butchered at least one other white victim at Black Self-Help.)

One of the detectives who worked the Zebra detail told me that one of the cases in which the dismembered white murder victim could not be identified was known as "the turkey case," since the victim, who was found on Ocean Beach minus his feet and hands (and head?), was trussed up like a Thanksgiving turkey.

Jesse Lee Cooks also raped twice and sodomized (at least) one white woman, whom he had planned on murdering, as well, but who succeeded in maneuvering him, much to his consternation, into letting her live.

Black Self-Help was managed by Tom Manney, an NOI member who, according to a different detective from the case was a former St. Ignatius High School and City College football star. According to Clark Howard, the author of the definitive work on the Zebra killings, Zebra: The true account of the 179 days of terror in San Francisco (1979), Manney lent his black Cadillac to the murderers, who used it in several of the killings. According to Howard, an illegal .32 pistol that Manney owned was also the murder weapon in several of the killings. Manney was arrested for the Zebra Killings, but released for -- in the DA's opinion -- lack of evidence.

One of the detectives who worked the case told me that more recently, Manney was charged with insurance fraud. The detective recalled that in addition to serial murder, Black Self-Help was a burglary operation. So much for the NOI's self-image and public persona as a clean-cut, racial supremacist religion preaching racial annihilation while refraining from common crimes such as robbery, burglary, and rape.

In addition to Manney, Clarence Jamerson, Dwight Stallings and a fourth man whose identity I have not yet been able to determine, were also arrested in the Zebra Killings, but released for lack of evidence. The fourth man was inexplicably given the pseudonym "Jasper Childs" by Zebra author Clark Howard.

Stallings was arrested by Inspector Rotea Gilford, who was the first black promoted to the SFPD Homicide Bureau. Gilford, who had grown up with Stallings, was certain that the latter had blood on his hands, but was unable to prove it. Later, while working as a longshoreman, Stallings died in a work accident.

After Gilford retired from the SFPD, he became a close political advisor to his old friend, former California State Assembly speaker and then-San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown. Gilford has since unfortunately died from diabetes. Last year, Gus Coreris remembered Gilford as "a good policeman," the highest praise one cop will give another.

Nation of Cut-Throats

As one of the inspectors from the SFPD Homicide Detail team that ran the case told me on Thursday, investigators at the California Department of Justice's Bureau of CII and the FBI had been quietly compiling material on similar murders up and down the state of California and the East Coast, respectively, since 1970. (A detective from the Zebra case called CII "Criminal Intelligence and Investigation," Clark Howard called it "Criminal Investigation and Identification," and a timeline of the California Department of Justice identifies CII as "Criminal Identification and Information.")

One such East Coast murder was the April 14, 1972 ambush murder of Patrolman Philip W. Cardillo in Harlem's NOI Mosque #6 by mosque members, following a false "officer in need of assistance" call one member had made.

That was Min. Louis Farrakhan's mosque at the time, and if historian Vincent J. Cannato's recounting of the murder in The Ungovernable City: John Lindsay and the Struggle to Save New York (2001) holds up, Farrakhan was at least guilty of obstruction of justice, if not conspiracy to murder a police officer.

Retired NYPD Lt. Randy Jurgenson, who responded to the mosque ambush 34 years ago, has just finished a book on the case, Circle of Six. Two weeks ago, New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, who also responded to the mosque ambush that fateful day -- arguably the darkest in the history of the NYPD -- announced that he is reopening the case. At the time, suspect Lewis 17X Dupree, was acquitted of murder charges.

Getting back to the West Coast, the retired SFPD inspector told me that the San Francisco murder campaign was run through the NOI's local Mosque #26.

The killers all sought membership in an elite NOI group called the "Death Angels," which had recruiting meetings and pep rallies in the loft at Black Self-Help. In order to become a Death Angel, one had to murder four white children, five white women, or nine white men. In the NOI, cowardice is a virtue.

According to Clark Howard, the NOI had gangs of assassins up and down the state of California:

At that time, there were fifteen accredited Death Angels in California. To achieve their collective membership, they had already quietly killed throughout the state 135 white men, 75 white women, 60 white children -- or enough of a combination thereof to give each of them his required four, five, or nine credits. This was October of 1973. The California attorney general's office had already secretly compiled a list of forty-five of those killings which had taken place in the cities of San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Long Beach, Signal Hill, Santa Barbara, Palo Alto, Pacifica, San Diego, and Los Angeles; and in the counties of San Mateo, Santa Clara, Los Angeles, Contra Costa, Ventura, and Alameda. All of the victims were white. All the known suspects in the killings had been associated with the Black Muslim movement. The killings were even then continuing throughout the state.

The operation came down from the highest levels of the NOI, making the NOI the bloodiest domestic terrorist group in American history.

During the same period, murdering whites had become quite a sport for black San Francisco criminals, a sport that did not bother black San Francisco civilians, who were of little help to police in solving the Zebra killings. On the bloodiest night of the killings, January 28, 1974, the NOI murderers shot five whites within two hours, leaving four dead and one crippled. In the most brazen incident that night, the killers shot to death a white woman, Jane Holly, in front of eight black women in a well-lighted laundromat. Yet none of the black women would give police a useful description of the killer.

Had blacks helped police, the NOI killers could have been caught months earlier, and several of their victims spared.

As retired SFPD assistant chief and historian Kevin J. Mullen, who at the time was a veteran of over 20 years on the force, recently wrote,

By the late 1970s, San Francisco's homicide rate was 18.5 per 100,000 population, up from 5.9 in an equivalent period in the early 1960s. Much of the increase was driven by a rise in black on white killings. It was in this climate that the Zebra killings occurred.

Note that at 13.4 percent, blacks then comprised barely more than one-eighth of the city's population.

We still do not know how many whites the Nation of Islam murdered during the period of 1970-74, let alone how many it has since murdered, not to mention how many copycat black-on-white murders the NOI may have inspired.

CII's Richard Walley, who until his unfortunate death from cancer in 1974, ran the California Department of Justice's Intelligence Analysis Unit (IAU), was convinced that during the 1970-early 1974 period alone, the NOI was responsible for 71 black-on-white racial murders in California. In Zebra, however, author Clark Howard estimated that the NOI was guilty of "just under 270" black-on-white murders in California during the same period.

Bending the Rules

What broke the seemingly hopeless case was an inspiration by Gus Coreris that went under the rubric of "bending the rules."

Coreris sat down with SFPD sketch artist Hobart "Hoby" Nelson, and as Coreris told me last year, dictated generic sketches of two 20-something black males. Those sketches were then distributed to local newspapers, who published them on their front pages; to TV news operations, who led with them on the 6 O'Clock News; and to officers in the street, who pulled over every young black man who resembled one of the drawings.

In order to avoid constantly harassing the same innocent black men, the police gave out a special "Zebra Check" card to each black man who had already been stopped and questioned, with the time, date, and place of the stop, the driver's license and social security numbers of the black civilian, and the name, badge number, and signature of the officer who had made the stop. If an innocent black man had already been stopped, he needed only to produce his Zebra Check card and valid ID showing that he was the card holder.

Note that a few years earlier, hundreds of young white men had been stopped and questioned in connection with the Nob Hill rapist, in which the suspect had been identified as white. Only in the Nob Hill case, no cards were issued to white men who had been stopped, and no one protested or went to court to get the practice stopped.

But this time, black San Franciscans were mad as hell! How dare the police inconvenience and "harass" them. What was the big deal, after all? And why the "Zebra" appellation? This was surely a racist dig at blacks! (You can't make this stuff up.) Blacks of all social classes were particularly outraged that in a murder spree in which all of the suspects were black, police were stopping and questioning only black potential suspects. The term "racial profiling" had yet to be coined, but the mentality of shielding black criminals was already prevalent among blacks.

As Howard wrote, "The black organizations... were determined to interfere with the police effort in any way they could." Some were definitely seeking, via political means, to aid and abet mass murderers. One activist preacher, the Reverend Cecil Williams, threatened a race war, if police didn't back down. As if the race war were not already underway.

I know of only one black San Franciscan from the time, prominent or otherwise, who showed any support for the SFPD. Dr. Washington Garner, a prominent local physician and civic leader, called on the black community to cooperate with police, even emphasizing the tactics used in the Nob Hill rapist case. Unfortunately, Dr. Garner's alternate pleading and scolding fell on deaf ears.

Jesse Byrd

The NAACP -- joined by the ACLU -- went to court to handcuff the police, and won. They were supported by, among other groups, a racist, black-dominated, counter-police organization called Officers for Justice, whose president was an SFPD officer named Jesse Byrd (spelled "Bird" in some accounts). Jesse Byrd was a Black Muslim.

(A counter-police organization is one which seeks to handcuff and destroy a police agency from within. Contemporary American counter-police organizations are typically formed by blacks or Hispanics, who, while demanding jobs, promotions, and power for unqualified and morally unfit members of their groups, often seek at the same time to aid and abet minority criminals. In addition to Officers for Justice, prominent counter-police organizations include The Black Sentinels in Cincinnati, and The Guardians, 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care, and the Latino Officers Association in New York. When such groups succeed at getting unfit officer candidates from their respective groups hired, they invariably follow up with frivolous lawsuits, charging that the incompetent minority hires suffer discrimination in promotions, no matter how rapidly those members have been promoted, in order to gain them millions of dollars in extortion money.)

Gus Coreris' bluff saved the day, in spite of Jesse Byrd, the NAACP, and the ACLU.

One of the NOI killers was an ex-con named Anthony Harris who, as Gus Coreris told me last year, had a wild imagination. Although neither of the police sketches resembled Harris in the slightest, Harris projected himself onto one of them, and convinced himself that he had been identified.

Harris came forward to gain $30,000 (over $100,000, adjusted for inflation) in reward money, immunity from prosecution, and new identities for himself, his girlfriend Debra, and her baby.

The SFPD initially secreted the family in either a Holiday Inn motel (according to Howard) or the Del Webb Hotel (as one of the detectives told me). The family was with Inspectors Gus Coreris and John Fotinos, the partners who were the SFPD's top homicide detectives, and who were the lead detectives in the case. However, one day while Anthony Harris was taking a shower, Debra called Sister Sarah, the wife of an NOI minister, and told her where the family was hiding.

Within minutes, an NOI assassin had appeared in the lobby, spoken with Harris on the house telephone, and called from a pay phone for reinforcements. Insp. Coreris called Insp. John Fotinos from the house phone, to warn him of the impending arrival of the killers, and to get him to prepare Harris, his family, and his attorney to escape.

Shortly thereafter, a car pulled up with four more NOI assassins. (Howard's description of the five suggested they were from the Fruit of Islam, the NOI's palace guard, as the FOI were much more disciplined than the Zebra killers.)

Feigning indifference to the assassins and to his witness, Inspector Coreris left the motel. The assassins then proceeded to undertake a floor-by-floor search for their prey. Presumably, they would have killed everyone present -- including family, inspectors, and attorney.

Once on the street, Insp. Coreris hurried to his SFPD car, and peeling rubber, drove it up to the motel's rooftop parking lot, where Fotinos, Harris' lawyer, Laurence Kaufman, and Harris and family were waiting. Once everybody was in, Coreris again peeled rubber, only seconds ahead of the NOI assassins. (This story was told by Clark Howard in Zebra; Gus Coreris corroborated it to me during a telephone interview last year.)

As Howard recounts, when a San Francisco Examiner team of reporter Dexter Waugh and photographer Walt Lynott, and a later Examiner team that included reporter Hollis Wagstaff scoured the city, talking to people how they felt about the killings, not only were blacks not at all fearful -- after all, they noted, they weren't being targeted by the killers -- but not a single black San Franciscan the respective teams interviewed expressed any sympathy for the white victims.

The tenacious, brilliant, and resourceful team of Gus Coreris and John Fotinos are the heroes of the Zebra saga. They had two able younger detectives -- Jeff Brosch and Carl Klotz from Robbery Detail -- assisting them full-time, with every other member of the Homicide Detail working on the case on a rotating basis. And of course, every officer on the SFPD was on the lookout for the NOI killers.

In Zebra, Clark Howard recounts an incident from a few hours after the assassination attempt at the motel. Gus Coreris returned to his office, where a message from a young black SFPD patrolman awaited him. When Coreris returned the man's call, the latter did not want to discuss the matter over the phone. In person, the patrolman asked Coreris point blank where he was hiding Anthony Harris. Coreris asked the officer if he was acting on behalf of the NOI. When the young officer answered in the affirmative, Coreris responded that the SFPD would protect Harris and the information he had "at any risk," that Coreris was going to report the officer to SFPD Chief Donald Scott, Chief of Inspectors Charles Barca, and the Intelligence Division, and that the patrol officer had better stop inquiring about Harris' whereabouts.

In a telephone interview last year, Gus Coreris confirmed for me that the foregoing incident had occurred just as Clark Howard reported it. When I asked Coreris what had happened to the black officer working for the NOI, he replied, "Nothing."

We are talking here about a police officer who, based on Coreris' story, was guilty of conspiring to murder a government witness, conspiring to obstruct justice, and who was an accomplice after the fact in at least 15 murders, at least nine attempted murders, and various and sundry other felonies (rape, kidnapping, etc.). Note that without Anthony Harris, not only would there have been no convictions in the Zebra case, but no arrests. The prosecution's case was entirely dependent on Harris, who spent twelve days on the witness chair testifying during the trial. Without Harris, the murders would have continued... and the officer in question would have been an accomplice prior to the fact in any future murders.

Last year, one of my SFPD sources who had been on the job at the time of the Zebra murders told me that the black officer in question was none other than Jesse Byrd. Although one SFPD source would have been more than enough for a New York Times reporter, I wanted a source from the inner circle of detectives who ran the case.

I spoke to everyone from the Zebra team, save one, but no one could remember the identity of the black patrolman.

John Fotinos

The one inspector I didn't reach was John Fotinos. He was the guy that got away.

Last week, Fotinos' widow told me of the massive stroke her eighty-year-old husband had suffered on April 16 of this year, and which took him eleven days later.

John Fotinos was born on November 1, 1925. He served his nation honorably in World War II (as did his friend and partner, Gus Coreris). John Fotinos was an old-school cop who never took the job home with him. He and his wife had four children, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Today one of their sons, one son-in-law, and two of their grandsons proudly wear the uniform of the San Francisco Police Department.

I never had any contact with John Fotinos, and never so much as saw his photograph. And yet, when I first read Zebra four years ago, he and Gus Coreris immediately became heroes of mine. John Fotinos will be missed anywhere people care about upholding the thin blue line that separates civilization from anarchy.

Public Corroboration

So, where would I get my secondary corroboration? Hiding in plain sight, as it turned out. Hollywood screenwriter Bennett Cohen, with the assistance of retired SFPD Chief Earl Sanders, who gave Cohen's researchers boxes and boxes of the old SFPD Zebra paper work Sanders had taken with him, wrote a just-released book on the case, The Zebra Murders: A Season of Killing, Racial Madness, and Civil Rights. Cohen, who must have found Gus Coreris' old report complaining about Jesse Byrd's yeoman efforts on behalf of the NOI assassins, writes that Byrd was, indeed, the NOI mole in the SFPD. Oddly enough, however, Chief Sanders argues that "all they wanted to do was 'talk' to [Anthony Harris]."

As crime historian and retired SFPD deputy chief Kevin J. Mullen, a peer of Gus Coreris and John Fotinos, quipped in his review of Bennett Cohen's book, "Yes. And John Gotti had someone ask the FBI for Sammy 'The Bull' Gravano's address in the Federal Witness Protection Program so that he could update his Christmas card list."

It is impossible to overstate Jesse Byrd's significance. We have many instances over the years of black activists and groups seeking indirectly to aid and abet black criminals and terrorists, through say, handcuffing police (e.g., prohibiting them from surveilling mosques that are known terrorist meeting places, such as San Francisco's NOI Mosque #26). However, in all the other cases, there was always at least one degree of separation between the terrorists or criminals and their public supporters. Jesse Byrd is the only case I know of, in which there were zero degrees of separation.

Zebra Memorial Service

The 10th Annual Zebra Victims Memorial Services was held on Friday at 12 noon on the steps of San Francisco City Hall. Organizers had announced that SFPD Commissioner Petra DeJesus had agreed to attend.

"New" Zebra Victims and the Zebra Project

The person who has helped me the most in studying the Zebra case is Lou Calabro, a retired SFPD lieutenant, who was a sergeant at the time of the NOI murders. Calabro encouraged me to undertake a Zebra Project, in order to determine and name all of the white victims of the NOI's genocidal campaign. Calabro convincingly argued that the project must necessarily be a team effort, due to the massive workload, in seeking after official records and newspaper accounts from those pre-computer and pre-Internet days. Not to mention that with witnesses, survivors, and lawmen dying off, time is of the essence. I ask that anyone with information about any possible NOI racial attacks please write me at Add1dda@aol.com. All correspondence will be kept confidential.

In re-reading passages from Clark Howard's book, I came up with one surviving non-San Francisco victim, Massachusetts native Thomas Bates, a hitchhiker who was shot three times near Emeryville. (Clark Howard cited several fatal and non-fatal non-San Francisco NOI attacks; however, Bates was the only such victim whom he named.) Howard has so far not responded to e-mails from me seeking information on his claim that "just under 270" California whites were murdered by the NOI at the time.

Since my Zebra article last year, two people have sent me information about other possible Zebra victims. In January, one reader wrote,

Richard Asbury was born on Nov. 11, 1940 and died sometime in the late summer early fall of 1970. He had brown hair and brown eyes, ht. 6'1", wt. 160 lbs. He was in Santa Rosa, CA and I believe he was found in the Russian River. I don't believe he had any tattoos or identifying marks. There is rumor of him having ties with the Hell's Angels, but it is all speculation. I will try to get more information.

And two months ago, I learned of Steve Conachy and yet another unidentified victim.

I found your article on the Zebra killings and wanted
to give you some inside info. The first killings took
place in Aug 3 1973. To young men were picked up (one
in Pacifica in the Fairmont dist. ). One was 18 yrs
the other was 21 yrs old. The 21 yrs old's body was
dumped in SF and the other in the San Bruno mountains.
They are the very first 2 and forgotten victims of
those sick murders done by Black Muslims in SF in
1973.

Those 2 young men did not know each other. They may
have never seen each other until that night. They now
rest in Colma 20 ft from each other for all eternity.
How do I know this? One was my older brother....

These murders at the time were not put together, 2
different countys were investagting it. My
father was a retired SF plice officer and they thought
the killing was to get even with him. Which was not
the case. About 6 to 8 weeks later the other murders
began and my brother and the other poor soul murders
were finally connected, but by that time the press was
focus on the new killings and the first victims were
forgotten about. But that was the start of it in Aug 3
1973.

Thank you for you time in this matter. It is important
to me to get the record right and my brother not a
forgotten victim....

Four of the NOI murderers were tried and convicted for the San Francisco killings. They remain in prison today, but they come up periodically for parole:

Jesse Lee Cooks, J.C. Simon (aka J.C.X. Simon), Larry Green and Manuel Moore.

According to crime writer Julia Scheeres, Leroy Doctor was also an NOI assassin. Doctor's intended victim, Robert Stoeckmann, turned the tables on him, and ended up shooting Doctor three times. Doctor, who lived, was ultimately imprisoned for assault with a deadly weapon. Scheeres is, to my knowledge, the only crime writer so far to list Doctor as an NOI assassin.

Note that the NOI paid for the defense of Simon, Green, and Moore, but had nothing to do with Cooks' defense. That is because Simon, Green, and Moore were all guilty as hell, and never admitted their guilt. The NOI wrote off Cooks, and had nothing to do with his defense, because he pleaded guilty to the murder of Frances Rose, in exchange for prosecutors dropping rape charges against him in the "Ellen Linder" case. In the NOI it is a mortal sin to ever confess to a crime in "the white man's" courts, no matter how guilty one is.

Known and Possible Zebra Victims

A partial list of the wounded follows, in Clark Howard's words:

Richard Hague [Quita's husband], his face butchered.

"Ellen Linder," [a pseudonym Howard devised to protect her privacy], raped, ravaged, threatened with death.

Arthur Agnos [who would later be elected mayor], surviving after his insides were ripped up by bullets.

"Angela Roselli," surviving with nerve damage in her back.

Roxanne McMillian, surviving but paralyzed from the waist down.

Linda Story, surviving with nerve damage in her back.

Ward Anderson, surviving but in serious condition after being shot down at a city bus stop.

Terry White, also surviving, also in serious condition, after being shot down at the same bus stop.

And courtesy of Julia Scheeres, at Court TV's crimelibrary.com,

Robert Stoeckmann, grazed in the neck by a shot fired by Leroy Doctor.

A partial list of white NOI murder victims follows, as described by Clark Howard:

Quita Hague, hacked to death....

Frances Rose, her face blown apart by close-range gunshots.

Saleem Erakat, tied up and executed.

Paul Dancik, shot down at a public telephone....

Marietta DiGirolamo, thrown into a doorway and shot to death.

Ilario Bertuccio, killed while walking home from work....

Neal Moynihan, shot down while taking a teddy bear to his little sister.

Mildred Hosler, shot down while walking toward her bus stop.

Islamic Indoctrination in Oregon High School

What's this? The Five Pillars of Islam . . . dressing like a Muslim? Ridiculous? Not in Nyssa, Oregon, where schoolchildren are being indoctrinated into Islam under the guise of Social Studies. So far only one parent has voiced an objection. It was the first complaint in four years. Don Grotting, Superintendent of Nyssa Public Schools, teaches the class. "The concerns relate to one of 18 chapters in Islamic Civilization, in our history textbook, Journey Across Time," he says. It has absolutely nothing to do with indoctrination. Uh-huh.

"Our role as educators does not include advocating or admonishing Islam or any other religion or culture," he explained. "Within our world history curriculum, we provide information regarding all of the major cultures and religions that have shaped and continue to influence our world," he says. (Well, as long as there is no "advocating and admonishing.")

It's a class for 7th graders. With the average 12-year-old's scant knowledge of world history one wouldn't want to confuse them with the gritty details. Who knows, some kid could get the idea that the Holocaust in Sudan (two million Christians and animists murdered by the Islamic theocrats in the '80s and '90s) was merely a replication of the deeds of Stalin and Hitler in the '30s and'40s, or that Muslim women in Saudi Arabia and Iran are treated no better than the slaves were on Jefferson Davis's plantation.

"This particular chapter covers how, beginning in 600 AD, Arabs began a new empire and how their religion, Islam, developed and influenced the building of the new empire and continues to influence culture throughout the world today," said Grotting. One can only hope Grotting treats the so-called American Empire with the same clinical detachment.

The protest against the curriculum went nowhere -- it was a case of been there, done that. The notorious 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals had already ruled that it was okay to teach Islam as cultural education. Next it will rule in favor of teaching Islam as it relates to science, economics and animal husbandry with extra credit for touring halal butcher shops.

Kendalee Garner, the parent who lodged the protest, was confused. "I don't understand the ban on Christianity but Islam has free rein," she said. She wasn't alone. Edward White III of the Thomas More Law Center who had argued the issue in a case before the U.S. Supreme Court said the methods used by Nyssa wouldn't have lasted ten seconds if they had been used to teach Christianity. Jesus Christ? -- maybe as an exclamation in the lavatory but not in a classroom.

According to Grotting the course is a state requirement under a set of mandated standards called Benchmark 3. He admitted that on some issues the textbooks "take a slant."

And how did all this come about? Harken back to 1995 when the Clinton administration issued its guidelines for Religious Expression in Public Schools. (Thought Slick Willie wasn't religious, hey? Forget that Monica Lewinsky stuff, he was up to his PBUH neck in religious skullduggery.)
It is under Slick Willie's guidelines that Islam is being taught in Nyssa.

"You are beginning a simulation of the history and the culture of Islam," runs the course brochure. "It is impossible to study Islam without understanding the relationship between the teaching of Prophet Mohammed and the entire Mid-Eastern culture." Therefore the student will become a Muslim, join a caravan, make a pilgrimage to Mecca, learn the Five Pillars, recite prayers to Allah, the Merciful, the Magnificent, the Generous…"you alone we worship and you alone we pray for help (PBUH)."

And anyone who says "Holy Moses" will have a fatwa pronounced against him. Well, no, fatwas are one of the things not covered -- along with beheadings, stonings and mass murders.

Other incidentals among the Clinton guidelines were used by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) to end Christmas celebrations in the little red schoolhouse.

When announcing his Doctrine on Religious Expression, William Jefferson Clinton (PBUH) said it was the product of "35 religious groups," including the ACLU and other civil rights organizations, some of them more interested in stifling Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson than in enlightening America's schoolchildren. How Clinton came to the conclusion that the ACLU was a religious group remains a mystery. That may not be solved until the final deciphering of the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Prominent among those advising Slick Willie was Abdurahman Alamoudi. Alamoudi has an incredible track record. He has been described as a friend of Hillary Clinton's. He was once Hillary's adviser on Islamic affairs. (He may have temporarily replaced Eleanor Roosevelt as her political guru.)

One sentence in the Nyssa teaching guidelines must have come straight from Alamoudi. It says: "Students generally do not have a federal right to be excused from lessons that may be inconsistent with their religious beliefs or practices." How Qur'anic in its majesty is that statement!

Alamoudi was arrested in 2003 for failing to notify the U.S. State Department of the numerous trips he had made to Libya and for illegally accepting money from the Libyan delegation to the United Nations. British customs officials caught him with $340,000 in cash intended for Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

Hillary could be the next President of the United States. Are we ready for a president with only a 7th grader's knowledge of religion?

Washington Post Features Islamist Yvonne Ridley

Incredibly, the Washington Post ran an article today by Yvonne Ridley, a British convert to Islam, who posits that when it comes to women's rights, Islam's values are far more progressive than Western ones. In the article Ridley says:

"These [female subjugation, ritual clitoridectomy etc.] cultural issues and customs have nothing to do with Islam. A careful reading of the Koran shows that just about everything that Western feminists fought for in the 1970s was available to Muslim women 1,400 years ago. Women in Islam are considered equal to men in spirituality, education and worth, and a woman's gift for childbirth and child-rearing is regarded as a positive attribute.

When Islam offers women so much, why are Western men so obsessed with
Muslim women's attire? Even British government ministers Gordon Brown and John
Reid have made disparaging remarks about the nikab -- and they hail from across
the Scottish border, where men wear skirts."

Well, maybe that's because in Scotland, women aren't generally treated like chattel nor are they forbidden to drive or to sing or to say "no" to their husbands nor are they forbidden to dress as they please nor forbidden to wear makeup like many of their Muslim counterparts.

What is most shocking about the Washington Post's publishing of Ridley's article is the fact that it gives no background on who she really is: an apologist for mass murdering psychopath Abu Musab Al Zarqawi, and a member of alleged Oil for Food swindler and anti-Western rhetorician George Galloway's pro-terror RESPECT Party.

Ridley has written a number of pro-Islamist-terror screeds. She called the 60 people murdered and scores injured in 2005 terrorist attacks in Jordan "collaborators." "I think I'd rather put up with a brother like Abu Musab alKarachii any day than have a traitor or sell-out for a father, son or grandfather," she said in reference to the attacks, one of which occurred in a hotel ballroom where a Jordanian wedding was being held. When an Al Qaeda suicide bomber attacked the wedding, 38 wedding guests were killed including the fathers of the bride and groom.

Ridley also described Shamil Basaev, who masterminded the horrific mass murder of Russian school children at Beslan, as "a Shaheed" -- a martyr.

In spite of Ridley's numerous, deplorable advocacies, the Washington Post neglects mentioning them. As a result, the uninformed reader is, once again, left with the politically-correct impression that Islam is a wholly liberating theology of total peace, justice, equality and enlightenment. Perhaps theoretically it is but history shows it has also played a significant role in justifying blood-letting, slavery, female subjugation and intolerance.

No doubt, the clueless and apologetic WaPo elites would hold fast to their naive, PC beliefs even at the edge of an execution pit, an Islamist's sword at their necks.

"What happens if Democrats take control of the House? Shouting and glee after being in the wilderness for lo these many years."

If Democrats Win, Impeachment is Certain

From my latest FrontPage article:

A plan is in place to censure and impeach President Bush and Vice President Cheney. Orchestrated and organized by the radical Left and Congressman John Conyers, Jr., this plan is ready to go should the Democratic Party take control of the House of Representatives in November.

The plan is the ultimate manifestation of left-wing hatred for George W. Bush rooted in the contentious election of 2000. Since failing to defeat Bush in 2004, the Left has focused its efforts on destroying his presidency by assembling a list of charges aimed at impeaching him.

Impeachment plans began seriously coalescing in 2005, after the NY Times published classified aspects of the NSA surveillance program. In mid- December of that year, Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-CA, asked a group of presidential scholars whether President George W. Bush had committed an impeachable offense when he authorized the NSA foreign surveillance program. John Dean, the long-time Bush critic of Watergate fame provided Boxer with the answer she and most other Democrats were looking for: "Bush is the first president to admit an impeachable offense," he said.   To Be Surrounded by Virgils

-
-
And he (Virgil) then as initiate to novice:
"Here must you put all division of spirit
and gather your soul against all cowardice.
This is the place I told you to expect.
Here you shall pass among the fallen people,
souls who have lost the good of intellect."
So saying, he put forth his hand to me,
and with a gentle and encouraging smile
he led me through the gate of mystery.
-Dante

I am too tired to be frightened. And too curious.
I began my journey to the gate of hell alone, through foreign lands-- lands which journalists with acid pens and wretched minds and vengeful hearts paint ever darkly for politics miles away.

I spent one day in the city of Amman, Jordan, after the fitful sleep and pained ears of a ten hour flight. Through the customs terminal at Amman I walk into centuries past. The faces are timeless, ancient, hard. They watch foreigners: a group of young, spirited American men with Southern accents, a pair of Asian men in business suits, two white Europeans, me. It is a mild mix of curiosity, of indifference, of derision and suspicion. It goes both ways.

I had flown first class. It is not my usual way. There are two customs lines in the airport: one for VIPs and First Class passengers, and one for the rest. The one for "the rest" is fourty people deep. There are two people in the VIP line. I feel naked -- unprivileged in a country not my own. I stand with the rest.

There are two men in traditional Muslim dress, wearing skullcaps, standing directly in front of me. I cannot help it --I think jihad: God and fury to a willing death. I think of the devotion represented by their long, stringy beards. They are smiling and joking with each other, as young men do.

An older, veiled woman stands next to them, but she is not with them. Exasperation is in the bags that she picks up and puts down and picks up, again and again.

In front of her is a young Western woman reeking of hated money or she is broke or lost or all three. It is all there in the meticulous cut of her tattered clothes, new shoes, slumped back and practiced, tired face.

The spirited Americans are there, too, and they are oblivious to what surrounds them or they are familiar with it. They are going for money -- for adventure and perhaps unexpected things worse.

I arrive at the front of the line. A bored, young man in uniform takes my passport, stamps it, looks casually at me and hands it back. My bags are not searched. I am alone, officially in Jordan.

I sit down in the dead heat of the airport lobby. I wait for a man to appear holding a sign with my name on it. He will take me to the hotel in the city of Amman, thirty-five kilometers away.

Half an hour later, I am still waiting. I pick up my cell phone, hoping it will work in this foreign land. It doesn't. I decide to find my own way to the hotel.

I walk outside of the terminal and am hit with a blast of hot, dry air. After the dead air of the terminal, it is a relief. An Arab man dressed in a red jumpsuit approaches saying, "taxi? taxi?," and before I can say yes or no, he grabs my suitcase and begins walking towards the terminal parking lot. I ask him if he has a taxi cab and he says, "yes." Another man, wearing a suit, accompanies us. I ask him how much the fare will be. He says, "twenty dollars."

He somehow knows that I am American, though I am dressed plainly and have somewhat Arabic features. As we approach the rows of cars, I ask the cabbie where his taxi is. He points to a rusted, dented Toyota sedan and says, "there."

No. I decline. I gently pry my suitcase from his hands, hand him a five dollar bill and thank him for his efforts. He asks why I will not accept his services. I answer him by pointing to his road-beaten auto and saying, "because that is not a taxi."

I walk back to the front of the terminal, pick the middle taxi in line at the cabstand and get in. The driver smiles openly through misshapen, nicotine stained teeth. Half of them are missing. He is still a handsome man.

We begin driving--at top speed--towards the city of Amman. The ride is madness. Sensing that the driver is trying to rattle me, I resist the pull to fasten my seat belt and instead pretend to sprawl comfortably across the back seat. At 160kph, lights flashing and horn blowing, we rocket within inches of cars in front of us. They pull over to the right lane, and we nearly side-swipe them as we pass. I put my trust in God, luck, and my driver's skill, and gaze out the side window at the passing scene.

It is a barren one, interrupted only by the occasional bush, cracked, weathered house and the strange sight of individual peasants, miles apart, tending vegetable carts. I reflect on the stark juxtaposition of the dry, dusty road and the moist fruits and vegetables in the carts. I wonder how long they will remain attractive to buyers in this harsh, arid setting.

We pull up to the Hotel XXXXXX in Amman. We are greeted by two soldiers with machine guns. They look at us casually, then walk back to their posts in front of the hotel. There are artful-looking concrete obstacles in front of the main door, and the driveway that leads to it is flanked by giant concrete blast walls meant to prevent those seeking God's rewards violently, from causing harm to others.

I pay the driver, remove my bags from the trunk and walk towards the entrance. Before I enter the hotel, my bags are searched, as am I. I pass through a metal detector, enter the hotel, pick up my key and go to my room. It is luxurious, but it is not home and I am exhausted.

After a long, hot shower I try to sleep but it is pointless. I know I will need cash in the morning for the next part of my journey, I go down to the lobby in search of an ATM machine. The nearest one is a block away and it is night. I wait until morning.

I remain awake for most of the night, and at 4:30 AM get dressed and walk down to the lobby, past the clerk and then out the door. The streets of this major Middle Eastern city are deserted in a way like I'd never seen in any city back home. The air is warm and still and gray dawn's first touches silhouette the buildings around me. From a hidden perch, the muezzin calls Amman's people to prayer. In the still beauty of this setting, I am brought to tears.

I sit on the steps in front of the bank and am like that around me.

When the sun rises, I will travel to what I have been told is hell.

Why the Democrats Must Not Win

Newt Gringrich rallies the troops:

"America vs. the Pelosi Record AbroadConsider the following national
security votes by a would-be Speaker Nancy Pelosi:

On Sept. 14, 2006, Pelosi voted against building a fence on the border to protect America from terrorists;

Before 9/11, Pelosi repeatedly voted to cut intelligence (in 1993 by $500 million) and after 9/11 she has still voted to cut intelligence (in 2004 she voted to withhold 25 percent of intelligence funds);

When you ask why we were not more prepared for 9/11, remember that six
months before Sept. 11, 2001, Pelosi voted to decrease proposed defense spending
by $65 billion;

The next time you think about North Korean nuclear tests and North Korean efforts to develop an intercontinental ballistic missile to reach the United States, remember that in 2002, Pelosi voted for an amendment to the FY 2003 Defense authorization that would block FY 2003 funding for space-based missile defense programs; Pelosi led a faction of 124 House Democrats who voted against final passage of the Patriot Act's reauthorization; Pelosi voted against the $87-billion Iraq/Afghanistan supplemental that included extra money for body armor for our soldiers; Pelosi voted against creation of Homeland Security Department;

Pelosi was one of only 33 members to vote against prohibiting U.S. citizens and companies from conducting any financial transaction with countries that have been identified by the State Department as active sponsors of terrorism; and

In 2004, Pelosi voted against House passage of the intelligence overhaul bill, which reorganized 15 intelligence agencies under one Director of National Intelligence.

Pelosi also supports immediate troop withdrawal from Iraq, saying that "[I] myself support the course of action that Mr. Murtha has put forth." And let's be clear about
exactly what Mr. Murtha is for: withdrawing from Iraq and leaving it to the
terrorists.

The future with Alcee L. Hastings as chairman of the Intelligence Committee based upon the historic record . . .

If all of this were not extraordinary enough, Nancy Pelosi has made clear her
intention, if the Democrats gain the majority, to force ranking Democrat Jane
Harman (Calif.) to step down and replace her with Alcee L. Hastings of Florida
as the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. Hastings is a
former federal judge who was indicted in 1981 for influence peddling, then impeached by a vote of 413-3 in the House and removed from his judgeship by subsequent conviction in the Senate on eight articles of impeachment. Hastings' conviction was only the sixth time that the Senate has removed a judge from office in an impeachment trial. It is not clear why Pelosi would place her trust in an impeached former judge to lead the oversight of our nation's intelligence agencies.Never in American history has a person with such consistent an anti-defense, anti-intelligence and anti-security record been allowed to be third in line to be Commander-in-Chief.
[Emphasis added]

Every Democrat running for Congress should be required to defend their decision to vote for a person who believes in such weakness, appeasement and withdrawal policies to run the House."

A Letter to a Daughter of the American Revolution

On October 5, Andrea Clemons, who identified herself as a Los Angeles high school science teacher, published "A Daughter of the American Revolution Speaks Out Against Bush."

Quoting from the Declaration of Independence, Clemons demanded that President George W. Bush be removed from office, and implied that violent means be employed. My response follows.

At first I thought: Oh, a patriot. And that was your intention. But when you started complaining of patriots that they were "racist," "homophobic," and "nationalist and militaristic," and you held up illegal immigrants as greater patriots than those who support and defend America, it became clear that you are an anti-American. Did you really think anyone would read your screed through, and think you were a patriot who cared about America, rather than a communist and/or traitor?

You aren't even a trenchant critic of President Bush and his "program." (What that "program" consists of, you never tell us.) Your criticisms are variously contradictory, vague, exaggerated and dishonest.

[My] ancestors worked their entire lives -- in factories, in offices, in fields, in homes, and even in the military -- to create.... the wealth of this country and upheld the early ideals of this country and served this country in whatever ways they knew how....

I understand that this country's wealth has been created first on the backs of slaves from Africa and forever on the backs of those with the least monetary wealth and more recently on the backs of people in developing countries...

Well, which is it? Are you saying your ancestors were slaves? I don't think so. Are you saying that your ancestors were slave owners? That too, seems doubtful. You don't follow up the logical implications of your bold statements. Apparently, you think that you can make any statement in any context, as long as it makes you sound morally superior, logic be damned.

In any event, the claim about "slaves" is a gross exaggeration, and the one about "people in developing countries" is a lie.

but I also recognize that many Americans today and many Americans in the past didn't realize these scaled power structures, repeated from international dynamics to class dynamics and race dynamics, etc.

"Scaled power structures"? "International dynamics to class dynamics and race dynamics"?

Let me guess. You picked up the preceding dogmatic catch phrases in college. In the immortal words of the philosopher Sonny Corleone, "What do you go to college, to learn to be stupid?"

You are only able to throw around dogmatic catch phrases, because your professors never provided any facts in support of them. They "addressed" skeptical students by variously flunking and expelling them, and seeing to it that they were whitelisted from ever becoming teachers, thus leaving the field increasingly to totalitarians like you.

You also falsely claim that America was founded as a democracy. Aside from the falsity of your claim, I'm at a loss as to how that would be something praiseworthy to you, seeing that as a Marxist, you are yourself violently opposed to democracy, and in favor of a dictatorship. (As the Founding Fathers were well aware, democracy is an undesirable form of government, which is why they founded the U.S.A. as a republic -- "If you can keep it," in Ben Franklin's immortal warning -- but Marxists like yourself have this thing about presenting themselves as "democrats.")

And yet, before my very eyes, the Bush regime is bucking all of those protective devices against intolerance and despotism -- the right to one's own religion, the separation of powers, the right to privacy and fair trial . . . the list doesn't end. It is time to throw off this government.

Evidence, please.

If anything, via an overly liberal application of the First Amendment's Freedom of Religion clause, Bush is permitting Moslems to slowly impose Sharia. If I were president, your beef might have some substance. But then, had the Founding Fathers been confronted with the Religion of Terror, they would have expressly outlawed Islam, and Moslem immigrants.

As for the separation of powers, I'd like to see some proof that President Bush has usurped either the legislative or the judicial branch; you provide not so much as a single example. In fact, it is the judicial branch that continues to usurp power from the other branches, as in for example, the recent case of Hamdan v. Rumsfeld, in which the Supreme Court usurped the prerogative of the Commander-in-Chief in running a war, while the Court invented new, unjustifiable rights for unlawful combatants in the bargain.

Your invocation of the Declaration of Independence, in order to rationalize as patriotic your call for a revolution, is a pathetic old communist trick. The Declaration was written to call into being a new nation, not to destroy that nation.

When you do get specific, it is to deride as a "violent homophobe" someone who mocked Frenchmen's manhood for refusing to fight in the War in Iraq. But even then, you expect the reader to take your word that a joke that you can't even remember was so offensive that we should hold an entire patriotic organization, and indeed, the very notion of American patriotism, in contempt.

Sophistry is not your strength, Ms. Clemons. Don't give up your day job.

On the other hand, if your letter is any indication, you are doubtless propagandizing your students to death, and expecting the taxpayers whom you hate, to subsidize your revolution. So, I wish you would give up your day job ... but I know you won't.

  Adam Gadahn Charged With Treason

Finally, the U.S. Justice Department breaks its unofficial ban on charging American traitors with treason by indicting Adam Gadahn, a U.S. citizen and California resident who became an al Qaeda spokesman. From Front Page :

"The Gadahn indictment, only nine pages long, has been brought under 18
United States Code, Section 2381, which is a codification of the constitutional
treason provision. The indictment is spare, but powerful.

. . . Beginning on a date unknown and continuing to at least September 11, 2006, defendant ADAM GADAHN, also known as "Azzam al-Ameriki" ("GADAHN"), a citizen of the United States, whose last known place of residence was in Orange County, within the Central District of California, owing allegiance to the United States, knowingly adhered to an enemy of the United States, namely, al-Qaeda, and gave al-Qaeda aid and comfort, within the United States and elsewhere, with intent to betray the United States. In so doing, GADAHN committed the following overt acts witnessed by two or more witnesses."

The indictment of Gadahn is incredibly significant, since it marks the first time in decades that an American has been officially charged with treason.

We can expect the far Left to howl about this. Watch for the Center for Constitutional Rights, the National Lawyers Guild and perhaps the ACLU to step up and defend Gadahn's "civil rights." The usual Legal Left blather will soon commence. No doubt we'll hear how the Gadahn indictment has a "chilling effect" on free speech.

To take something from each of them beyond just memory: a scent, an essence
a thing I know will be with me, if only until the time, many days from now, when I wash the tired road from my self and with it, their tears.

  Travel Bans for North Koreans?

The UN resolution (drafted by the United States) currently put before the Security Council "seeks to ban travel by people involved in the regime's weapons program."

What about travel bans on Arab and Pakistani Muslims? Why suddenly single out the Koreans? Are Korean scientists great world travelers? Would a travel ban hurt their operations? Shall we also ban the great glob trotters of the Iranian nuclear program?

Weakness of thought, presented as strength, does more to destroy everyone's confidence than to intimidate the offender. Every time this happens, the world is yet weaker. Freedom is further threatened.

Illegal Immigration Propaganda at the L.A. Times

I just sent the following letter to the L.A. Times (letters@latimes.com), regarding a piece of anti-American, pro-illegal immigrant propaganda it published on Saturday, by tenured alleged demographer, William Frey, of the University of Michigan and the Brookings Institution.

To the Editor:

Demographer William Frey opens his paean to unlimited illegal immigration ("A Country of Newcomers," October 8) by claiming that "NEARLY 30 years ago, President Lyndon B. Johnson stood before the U.S. Census Bureau's Population Clock to proclaim the arrival of the 200-millionth American."

"Nearly 30 years ago" (1977?), Pres. Johnson (1908-1973) had been out of office for eight years, and dead and buried for four. So much for history.

And in a veiled embrace of illegal immigrants and a transparently racist attack on white Americans, Frey misrepresents the costs and benefits of "immigration." He dishonestly claims that the new immigrants want to learn English, and will support baby boomers via social security, neither of which is true, and dishonestly discounts well-founded opposition to illegal immigrants, who are already destroying entire regions' health care systems, and taking jobs from working-class blacks and whites as the stuff of racist "white fright." So much for demographics.

Lies are no basis for "a more rational discussion."

Sincerely,

Nicholas Stix

  Calling all Queers

Where are the queers when you need them? Congressman Foley needs them. (Yes, we can say 'queers.' There is no "Q" word, yet. Oberlin College offers "Queer Studies." Check out the catalogue)

Congressman Foley resigned, gave up re-election hopes, and confessed he was sexually abused as a youth. Okay, so, where are all the homosexuals in the country? Why aren't they out in droves supporting him? After all, he hasn't committed an actual crime, even according to conservative legal standards. Homosexuality is not illegal.

Now, pedophilic activity is. That's what we're calling homosexual relations between an adult and a minor. Homosexuality is wrong if the ages of the two partners are wrong. Isn't that reassuring? (No wonder the homosexuals are constantly trying to lower the age of 'consent.') Most of them were introduced to homosexuality when they were young, introduced by older males. That's how they became homosexuals. How can they condemn, or not support, pedophilia? Do they, at heart, really feel horrible about it, or are they just playing politics here?

The homosexual "community" didn't come out and support the Catholic priests, either, when they came under fire for pedophilia. This is inexplicable. Are homosexuals trying to preserve a conservative image? Why won't they identify and defend their own?

Something's very queer about all this.

Clinton Legacy Goes Boom in North Korea

Thank you, Madeline!

I'm no scientist. Still, I know something about how nuclear weapons are developed and tested, including the theory behind them. I'm going to go out on a limb here and postulate that North Korea's supposed nuclear explosion wasn't a nuclear detonation at all, but rather a test of the conventional explosives system that compresses an atom bomb's core into a critical mass. The explosive yield of the North Korean's test seemed too small for a nuclear detonation.

If this is the case it is still significant since, besides designing and building the infrastructure and machinery necessary to process an A-bomb's nuclear fuel, designing the conventional explosives section of a bomb is the most formidable technical challenge involved in producing a working weapon. And if North Korea's test was successful, it marks a milestone step towards its wholesale production of a nukes.

Let's give a round of applause to the Clinton Administration for having provided North Korea with nuclear reactors, reactors which are central to the production of weapons-grade fuel.

Killing the Souls of Children with Legal Drugs

From the Washington Post:

"Parents and teachers today seem to believe that any boy who wriggles in his
seat and willfully defies his teacher's rules has ADHD. Likewise, any child who
has a temper tantrum is diagnosed with bipolar disorder. After all, an anger
outburst is how most parents define a "mood swing." Contributing to this
widespread problem of misdiagnosis is the doctor's willingness to accept,
without question, the assessment offered by a parent or teacher.

What was once a somber, heart-wrenching decision for a parent and something children often resisted -- medicating a child's mind -- has now become a widely used
technique in parenting a belligerent child. As if they were debating parental
locks on the home computer or whether to allow a co-ed sleepover, parents now
share notes with each other about whose child is taking what pill for which
diagnosis."

What is going on here? If anything, I'd be worried about a child who didn't throw temper tantrums or get angry at its parents or who occasionally failed to do homework. Unfortunately, we live in a society where people trying to sell us stuff push the message that everything can be cured by taking a pill. Feeling bad about not getting that raise?--take a pill. Putting on pounds because you eat too much?--take a pill. Losing sleep because you loaded up the credit cards?--take a pill. Feeling sad?--take a pill. Feeling angry?--take a pill, and on and on and on.

Now, many Americans, having bought the snake oil of instant cures for their perfectly normal unhappinesses and dissatisfactions, are trying to foist those same "cures" on their children. And many of those same kids are placed into psychotherapy, where therapists reinforce the notion that belligerence and unruliness are always bad behaviors.

The societal ramifications of this will be disastrous, for what such parents are doing is monkey-wrenching the natural development of their childrens' characters, and helping raise a nation full of listless, compliant, subservient automatons who will in turn have no idea how to properly raise their own children.

Children are, by their very natures, not compliant, emotionally monotonic, perpetually well-behaved beings. Anyone who has avoided the trap of pumping an unruly child full of psychoactive drugs knows this. But even parents who refuse to play the drug game with their children must often still deal with the debilitating propaganda foisted upon children in most public schools. That garbage is particularly aimed at boys: aggression is bad, competition is bad, not liking someone is bad, settling differences confrontationally is verboten.--the only good thing is "feeling good all the time" and treating everyone--regardless of beliefs or behavior or achievements-- with "respect."

I had three children, who are now adults with their own lives. When my daughter turned 14, she turned into a raging, rebellious teenager. In a nutshell, she flipped me, her teachers and her family the wholesale "bird," becoming a disrespectful hellion who refused to be roped in or held responsible for anything. I walked around with a pit in my stomach for three years while this was going on. The talks, the reasoning, the groundings--none of it seemed to make a difference in her behavior. She simply did as she pleased, ending up in several dangerous situations. But as sick to my stomach as I often was over worrying about her, she was never pushed to visit a therapist or to take Ritalin or Prozac or alternative "medicine" or any of the other mind-altering garbage that so many American parents now feed their kids when they act up.

Fast forward ahead ten years: My daughter is a beautiful, self-sufficient woman finishing up a degree in the physical Sciences. She is respectful, funny, kind, opinionated, a little crazy, talented, ballsy, smart, emotional and tough. I am immensely proud of who she has become. And it didn't take drugs for that to happen. It happened because she eventually harnessed her own inner resources and realized that ultimately, we are all responsible for our own lives.

She also knew that no matter what, she would always be loved -- regardless of her human imperfections -- by her parents, her family and a few good friends.

Paoli Scaroni, the CEO of the Italian oil company ENI says, "Today, a barrel of oil is worth half a barrel of Coca-Cola. So you should put things into perspective."

Every time I drink 20 gallons of Coke, I notice that too.

The Art of Bush Derangement Syndrome

What nice, peace-loving people leftist artists are! How considerate! How dignified!

I am glad that none of them would ever even dream of creating a painting showing Osama bin Laden or Ayman al Zawahiri or Mohammed Atta being eviscerated by vultures and ravens. That would show great cultural insensitivity!

What nice, tolerant thoughts went into these paintings! How wonderful, how insightful.

And the technical aspects of the paintings?--positively astounding!

I simply must buy both of them! . . . (after I chase my Bush hatred down with another plastic cup of cheap wine and a greasy nugget of further-constipating cheese.)

  Thoughts on the Foley scandal

It has been interesting watching Democrats react to the Mark Foley scandal. The party of 'alternative' lifestyles, gay sex education and Hollywood debauchery has suddenly morphed into the Party of Chastity, Morality, the Missionary Position and The Protector of Children.

Nancy Pelosi, who strutted behind the NAMBLA-endorsing Grand Marshall during San Francisco's Gay Pride parade--a parade featuring half-naked people engaging in simulated sex acts-- is now presenting herself as the Queen of Traditional Morality.

Give me a break. If anything, the Foley mess highlights Democratic Party hypocrisy.

Who can forget Gerry Studds, the Massachussetts congressman and rapacious chickenhawk who plied one of his pages (a 17 year old boy) with liquor, took him home and then sodomized him? When Studds was officially censured for his actions, he literally stood up and turned his back on the Congress. When he returned to his home district, Studds was roundly applauded by Massachussetts Democrats. Studds weathered the censure and the public's outrage to serve his state for another decade.

Then, of course, there's Rep. Barney Frank. Unlike Studds, Frank didn't prey on young boys. Instead, he trolled for gay prostitutes and eventually allowed one to set up a whorehouse in his D.C. apartment in exchange for sex. When this came to light, the Democratic Party rallied around Frank and, of course, accused the Republican Party of gay-baiting and homophobia.

Now, the fact is that Frank and Gobie had genuine affection for each other. And if Gobie hadn't been using Barney's place to sell sex, I doubt the matter would have received much attention. But prostitution is illegal, so Frank was rightly pressured to resign. He didn't and again, the Democratic Party protected him--even when Steve Gobie, in a 1990 Penthouse Magazine article, went on the record saying that after a sexual romp in the House gym, he and Frank had masturbated into the open gym locker of George H.W. Bush:

" . . . on New Year's Day, 1986, in the silence of the empty House gymnasium, Frank and Gobie , naked in the shower like a pair of naughty adolescents, snapped each
other with towels, and then begin masturbating--ejaculating into the open locker
of then-Vice President George Bush, Gobie says he was reluctant, but Frank
reassured him.

I [Gobie] said, "I wonder if this kind of thing ever happened in here before." And he said, "Don't worry, it happens all the time." Frank has denied that, too, and further declined to comment on any aspect of this story."

Gobie's revelations were met with Democratic Party defense and silence. Now, more than a decade later, we have a Republican congressman who, unlike Studds, never actually had sex with male pages, instead engaging them in titillating, sexual internet chats. It's gross, it's sleazy but not as nasty as some of the behaviors physically engaged in by Democrats Studds and Frank. And yet, the Democratic Party reacts by erupting in moral outrage.

When exposed, Mark Foley immediately resigned--no grandstanding, no speeches about gay 'rights' no accusation by him of 'homophobia,' 'witch hunts,' or sexual McCarthyism. He just went away after fashionably declaring himself an alcoholic. And yet, the Democratic Party reacts by implying that only it can lead America out of the Republican-affected moral cesspool that is Congress.

If the Democratic Party takes control of Congress in November, it will surely lead the country out of a cesspool filled with Republican congressional sleaze and ineptness into one--far deeper--reeking of hypocrisy, vindictiveness and a conscious will to lose Iraq.

Republicans-- on Nov. 7, stay home in disgust at the Foley affair, or better yet, vote for a Democrat. Then, when you awake on November 8th to a Democrat-controlled Congress, give yourself a pat on the back for having sent the Republicans a "message" and having helped install Pelosi, Rangel, Conyers, Durbin, Frank, Murtha, Kerry and Kennedy to head the War on Islamist Terror.

That's a fair trade-off, no?

  Creating Moments of Truth

Put the shoe on the other foot and teach the children well

It may be too late for England. Cancer, death by a thousand cuts, call it what one will, England is dying. Slowly, surely, Shari'a Law is being implemented in the land that once stood civilization on its head. Say goodbye to Richard the Lion-Heart, to the good Queen Bess, to Pitt and Locke and Shakespeare, to Sir Winston Churchill. Tony Blair may be making a valiant last-ditch stand but the shadow of Mohammed looms over Merry Olde England like a swastika over a Nazi concentration camp.

The beaches and the landing fields are already gone and the streets are being surrendered. Even Tony Blair is sinking inch by inch into a mindless dhimmitude -- a concession here, a concession there. The Spitfires are gone and so are the Halifaxes, all that is left are the Red Ken Livngstones and the George Galloways.

The stiff upper lip has given way to the trembling chin.

The late Robin Cook, British Foreign Secretary (1997-2001), speaking at the dedication of the Ismaili (Islamic) Center in London in 1998, said, "It is the most wonderful reminder in the very heart of London that the roots of our culture are not only Greek and Roman in origin, but Islamic as well. Islam laid the intellectual foundation for large portions of Western civilization."

Socrates, Cicero . . . and Mohammed?

Surely, he was jesting. It sounds like something Adolph Hitler would have said to the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem in the 1940s . . . the Nuremberg Laws, the Shari'a, dhimmitude, the swastika and the crescent, the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, Mein Kampf; the Qur'an. Cook was hallucinating -- Hitler wasn't.

More recently, Tony Blair said, "The most remarkable thing about reading the Koran -- in so far as it can be truly translated from the original Arabic -- is to understand how progressive it is."

--------------------------------------------------------****

A new multi-racial cemetery in Bulwell, England, will be plotted so that all graves will face in the direction of Mecca. Seventy percent of the population of Bulwell considers itself Christian. Some people would call this surrender to the inevitable. Others call it cowardice. The Church of Extinction -- ah, make that the Church of England -- is considering rejecting St. George as the patron saint of England on the grounds that it may be offensive to Muslims. A man running a public car park put up a sign saying 'Porking Yard' to honor an area once full of butcher shops. He was lucky he wasn't tarred and feathered. He was reported to the ABSO police (Anti-Social Behavior Order) and was 'ordered' to take the sign down and was given two years probation for possibly insulting Islam.

Pork is being banned in England because it is offensive to Muslims and halal food is being forced on non-Muslims despite the protests of animal rights people. In Brighton, England, and throughout much of Europe, the rape of non-Muslim women by Muslim men -- immigrants, converts and native born -- has reached epidemic proportions. Cowardly politicians and a media already sunk to the neck in dhimmitude avoid using the word 'Muslim' in describing the criminals because it might be considered offensive to the religion of peace and toleration.

How close is the United States to sinking into the Islamic cesspool that has engulfed England? Is it a decade down the road, a half-century away or is it just around the corner? Is there anything that can be done to arrest the incoming tide aside from banning future Muslim immigration to America? There is. But it is doubtful if more than a handful of politicians -- mostly Republicans and maybe Joseph Lieberman -- would have the guts to give it a try. It's Reciprocity Treaties.

Yes, Reciprocity Treaties, also known as the Golden Rule -- Do to others as you would have them do to you.

Of course, certain changes would have to be made. One would have to ignore the jokers in the State Department, clone Andrew Jackson and send him to the land of the burning sands to negotiate the reciprocity treaties with the Muslim countries. (Actually they would be immigration treaties but that might offend Barbara Boxer and Ibrahim Hooper. Nonetheless, they would be so quid pro quo nobody with a sense of justice and fairness could object to them.)

Under reciprocity treaties, Muslim immigrants to America would face the same disabilities non-Muslims face in Saudi Barbaria, Iran, Turkey, Iraq, Afghanistan, Indonesia and on down the wretched line. For instance, Article One: No new mosques could be built in the Untied States and those damaged or destroyed by fire or natural disasters could not be repaired or rebuilt.

This might anger Rosie O'Donnell and Howard Dean and outrage Hugo Chavez's friend Noam Chomsky, but it is how the Copts are treated in Egypt, the Assyrians in Pakistan, the Catholics in Indonesia and Jews and animists wherever they have, unfortunately, come in contact with Islam. It is not unusual for radical Muslim fundamentalists to destroy churches, synagogues and Hindu shrines and then smirk while denying permits to rebuild said edifices.

Article Two: Muslim resident in the United States would not be allowed to issue calls to prayer because the resultant din might disturb the peace, quiet and tranquility of the Christian population. Phil Donohue and Ward Churchill might consider this absurd -- they might even take great umbrage, talk about little Eichmanns -- but the complaints of those who have blamed suicide bombings in the Middle East on American foreign policy could be ignored for what they have always been: pure, naked, unadulterated anti-Americanism. Muslim voices could not be raised in prayer for the same reason and public funerals would not be allowed.

Here's one Bill Maher would like: The Qur'an would have to be kept in a closet or in the trunk of a car. The American Civil Liberties Union, which has been trying for years to ban the Bible from public places, could be expected to get behind this one. Uh-huh.

Article Six-and-seven-eighths: Muslim men would not be allowed to marry non-Muslim women but non-Muslim men could marry Muslim women. This might or might not affect the prospects of Paris Hilton and Anna Nicole Smith -- it would irritate Katie Couric and Christiane Amanpour but they would learn to live with it. Further, Muslim men would be banned from appearing clean-shaven in public and Muslim women would have to wear a burqa or a chador and a headscarf when they ventured out of doors to buy halal food on the Black Market. The beard and the headscarf would not be a sign of superiority, it would be a sign of inferiority.

The farther one gets into the fine print of these treaties the more amazing it gets. Muslim men would be prohibited from driving cars, owning weapons or arming themselves in any manner. They would not be allowed to sell wine or hawk prayer rugs on street corners. And they would have to pay a tax -- a jizya. Republicans would see to it that it wouldn't be too onerous. And what would they get for these modest concessions? Well, they would get what dhimmis -- non-Muslims -- get in Muslim countries. They would get protection. Yes, protection! They would be as safe as a Copt in Egypt, an Assyrian in Pakistan, a Christian in Sudan -- almost as safe as a prisoner on Devil's Island and with just about the same rights.

They would no longer have to worry about anything. And better yet -- Christians and other non-Muslims wouldn't have to worry about anything either.

No doubt about it -- Reciprocity Treaties are the way to go. They would work miraculous changes! Consider what would happen if Muslim-Americans were treated exactly the way non-Muslims are treated in Muslim countries.

It would be a moment of truth. In a few days, or maybe in a couple of weeks, one could expect many of them to become (a.) suicide bombers or (b.) good citizens.

Up to now, most of them have been neither.
